Increasing speed of the Finder in Apple Snow Leopard – Solution
This year I have switched to using a MacBook Pro and thus far have been very happy with all aspects of using a Mac vs a PC.
However one small thing has been bugging me. When I was using Finder in column mode in Snow Leopard, I would find the computer ‘sluggish’ in displaying items. At first I pinned this on OSX (and being unfamiliar with OSX, I did not know better).
However, the more I used my Apple I noticed that within application when I was opening a file and browsing for that file, speed of the ‘Finder’ within the applications opening window was much quicker then when I was on the desktop.
Today after some investigation I have found the mouse double-click setting found here: Apple / System Prefrences / Mouse / [Double-Click Slider], has a direct influence on the speed at which the ‘Finder’ in OSX will display items in a folder.
I hope this tip helps many… it seems to be retarded in my opinion to link the two.
