Spectacular meteor over Johannesburg, South Africa videos

November 26th, 2009

On Saturday night at 11pm I noticed the sky outside flare up. At first I thought it was lightning but the light got brighter and brighter until half the sky was blue as if it was daylight and then it was gone. Unfortunately due to the angle and where I was I did not see this spectacular event as the following footage has.

Awesome!

If you watch the video above you will note the cars on the highway brake hard after the explosion. I wonder what was on their minds when they saw that. Nuclear holocaust? But then maybe not everyone is as macabre as me ;)

Not as great… but will post more as more are found.

There are some really great comments over here giving various accounts of what was seen.

The other day this was shown to me:

It seems there was a giant meteor almost exactly 100 years ago… and almost the month. Screw the prawns and give me Species damnit.

Add weblinks to your homescreen on the Apple iPhone

November 22nd, 2009

If you have a favourite website you frequent with your Apple iPhone, then simply touch the “+” icon when you are on your favourite website.

and then touch the “Add to Home Screen” button.

If the website has an icon it will reflect otherwise a screenshot is taken.

When you are done the icon will now show on your Home Screen.

This is especially useful for some iPhone ‘apps’ that run online like Google Talk.

in response to the ceo of iburst saying things about me

November 22nd, 2009

iburst

I don’t agree with the CEO of iBurst’s sentiments that the issues of craigavon are not that important to their greater community as he suggests, and I find it hard to believe that the ceo of iburst (Mr Van Zyl) drags me into his problems revolving around the iBurst tower in Craigavon..

I have read this* and I would just like to add a few thoughts for everyone reading.

Just because you are supporting the person you love does not make you part of the greater picture here as i am painted by the ceo of iBurst.

Jannie Van Zyl suggests the greater community seems not to care? then why the media? why the threads, the articles, the debate and the questions?

Please Mr Van Zyl. Don’t drag me into your conundrum and accuse people I love of actions that are not true.

It only makes you look the fool at the very end of the day.

The problem is this:

Residents in Craigavon have a problem with an iburst mast your company has erected.

You are the CEO of iBurst. Why are you making it personal?

*I have linked to the main post Jannie Van Zyl made as an image… you can view the original thread on MyBroadband (the censored and telco sponsored broadband forum of South Africa) here.
