Last night I was invited to a birthday bash at Movida in Sunninghill, Johannesburg.

Movida is a relatively new night club which is considered more ‘upper class’ then your average night club and last night I had first-hand experience and VIP treatment at this exquisite club.

I arrived at about 10pm and upon entering I was severely impressed. The club’s interior is generous in space. Dark reds, oranges and blacks are the prevalent colour of the entire club which boasts a large dance floor which can double up as a seating space when required. The interior of the club is beautifully decorated with classy comfortable furniture, orange and red sensual lighting on the outskirts, with a bright and buzzing light show in the centre for those dancing.

Fortunately I was on the VIP list which afforded me access to the VIP lounge which is perfectly situated to give you a view of the entire club which came into effect at 11ish when all of a sudden the music stopped, the lights darkened and we were presented with a Movida Cabaret show. The stage in which the cabaret show took place was well made, and once again great lighting effects. The show itself was vastly entertaining with some incredible dancers

The Cabaret show lasted about 10 minutes however it seemed to set the tone for the rest of the evening of jam-packed fun and entertainment.

A few impressions I am left with after visiting Movida.

• No expense was spared when it came to the interior of the club. From the actual decoration, furniture and amazing sound and lighting. The club is first rate and first class in all these categories.
• The space -  the club has a great setup in terms of general space.
• The VIP area felt like a VIP area which provides full view of the entire club and you have your own private bar.
