Logitech G5 Laser Mouse Review
Today I had the awesomeness of receiving a Logitech G5 laser mouse. I have decided, after a few whirls in Call of Duty 4 online, this mouse is deserving of a review on my blog.

(Don’t you love my package shots)
The first thing that will strike you with this mouse is it’s build quality. The end product has a solid feel under the hand and the actual contours of the mouse actually feel “right”. The mouse has this tendency to correct your hand – would that be ergonomics? The plastic used does not feel cheap although I am still getting used to it’s rough texture.
You have to understand this mouse is a gaming mouse. It is not a mouse used to shift numbers around excel, and when I mean gaming that image you have of solitaire can go. A gaming mouse like this is generally used for FPS (First – person – shooter) games – yes like that evil evil game Doom.
Unfortunately due to lack of financial income I lack the funds to buy real weapons and then stalk ex-colleagues to relive the violence of some computer games I have played, so I am grateful I have this mouse as my weapon to “kill” people online with.
This is where the mouse gets interesting.

Underneath the mouse there is a slot where you slip in a cartridge. I shit-thee-not. The terminology they have used is “weight cartridge”. You see that arrow button in the image above on the underside of the mouse. When you press that your “weight cartridge” comes out much like the magazine of a pistol.

The mouse comes with this nifty little silver box which carries a total of 36grams of little silver weights which you can use in the weight catridge to set your mouse’s balance and heft… I know that sounds so cool but I will admit that comes straight off the box. It most certainly helps with control of the mouse if that is what they mean.
Overall very impressed with this mouse which I know is going to give me hours and hours and hours of what I hope are accurate killing hours.
I have always felt Logitech get things right with things like mice, keyboards and joysticks. I just think they should leave loud speakers alone.
Thanks to you know who for this awesome mouse!
Boring technical information about the mouse
Full/Speed USB
2000DPI Gaming-Grade laser engine (Gaming Grade laser engine? I question that claim)
36g of adjustable weights
On the fly sensitivity switching
Polytetrafluoroethylene gaming feet (Even Word says that word is not real)

hey man, yea looks pretty cool, my problem with mouses at the moment is the sensitivity, yes I know you can change it under the settings but does not really give that feeling of being in control, or maybe its just me, so spending alot of money on a mouse which just sits in the cuboard and I reverted to my old mouse again, I suppose this one also costs an arm and a leg, but overall it looks pretty sweet!
I think you need to pull out your expensive mouse and try again – I most certainly feel a difference with this mouse in terms of how it sits in the hand, the weight and the laser resolution to a degree. This one costs in the region of R600-R800.
Also dont be impatient – give yourself a while with a new mouse and adjust settings after each round rather than every 30 seconds. In an online game the only real weapon you have is your mouse and mouse pad so I understand why there is a market for such mice (sp?)
Thanks for the comment!!!
