How Apple can improve the UX of their iPhone… slightly :P

I have had an iPhone now for almost a year and overall I think it is the best smart phone I have used. Sure it has its set of issues like any device of this nature however if one thing pisses me off about the iPhone it is how they have seperate buttons for your email and your sms’s.

I have thought about this and below is my suggestion to resolve this, because as far as I am concerned, on the phone, an SMS is the same as an MMS which is the same as an Email.

Above is my suggestions. Rather an all encompassing icon labelled messages that will then show you all your email accounts and sms messages. In addition to this, all-in-one message centre you would gain an additional spot on your iPhone quick launch bar to put another application there. In this example the iPod application.
For those of you interested, if you Jailbrake your iPhone, there is an app that allows for 5 icons at the bottom of the task bar which seems to work pretty well. Maybe Apple should looks at things like this before they release another over glorified update.
Yea… as far as I am concerned as long as I can SMS and phone I am happy. What the iPhone comes with and I think the Black Berry too is huge 3rd party support for 3rd party apps which potentially opens the phone into something of a real portable computer device of sorts
i love my iphone
The BlackBerry is cool, if e-mail and an up-to-date diary is your thing. But with all devices though there are shortcommings as well. Part of life I suppose.
I have never used a blackberry but I am pleased to hear such an option exists. It means my suggestion is not alltogether that bad
the apple iPhone is far from perfect and it seems restrictive.
Interesting suggestion. Also interesting to note that BlackBerry has the option to either combine or seperate these two – my preference is seperate. But importantly, they’re giving the option to the user.
Please note that this is not a BlackBerry brag, merely an observation.
