Helvetica – the movie

I watched a documentary the other day entitled: Helvetica. In short it is a documentary about the font Helvetica and it’s history, impact and meaning to the design industry. There is a lot of bonus material with in depth insights from the likes of David Carson and Neville Brody.
If you are not a designer you may find the documentary somewhat dull and fail to appreciate the rich content it contains and some interesting facts about the font. From my perspective as a digital designer I have always seen the value of classic fonts as usability and legibility will be high requirements for any digital design… well almost any…
The documentary is somewhat surprising in revealing just how significant helvetica as a font is in the design industry… even to this day.
