Omegle – Talk to strangers

chat1

Click and you are talking to a stranger.

Yup it really is that simple and with no catch.  You are presented with a big blue button that says “Start a chat”, and when you click it you are taken to a new page that is a simple chat window where you can chat to the stranger with the ability to disconnect at any time to talk to another stranger.

No email or sign up required and you can just imagine the quality of strangers that you meet. The ‘strangers’ I met ranged from a Nazi in Holland to an Electrical Engineering Student in China who thinks it would be “good” if China dominated the world. The majority of people you meet are internet idiots and many I imagine fat 50 year old slobs just looking for cyber sex.

Fun for a while but no real value unless you severely bored like I was. Eventually I was getting to strangers to talk to each other by copying and pasting their conversation to each other. It was great. For a while I was a third party communications provider :D

Have fun!

Earth Day Scooter Rally Madness

Obviously there is a conspiracy.

Mrs Ball’s seems to have shrunk into yesterday’s haze and tonight I was surfing and stumbled on this:

Earth Day Scooter Rally Madness

WTF?

Seriously.

Did someone drug the marketing industry overnight? Is this just Post Easter Jitters? Voting fever?

Is it not ironic creating a gathering of people churning out noxious gasses from the noisy slow and sometimes cocky scooters?

And all this… wait for it…

To celebrate Earth Day… what next? The Chainsaw Club celebrates on Arbour Day?

Yup… Mother Earth. You gonna have a ton of noisy slow 2 stroke metro-hippies celebrating um… Earth Day via a rally.

I think the intent is awesome! Yes… we should be aware of our environment.

I also realise that in South Africa mobile transportation is a problematic necessity.  I think scooters are awesome… in fact check this out (cool biker apparel) if you ride a scooter or motorbike.

But surely a Bicycle Rally seems more fitting?

Anyway… I live nowhere near Cape Town and after seeing the pictures of fires on imod.co.za I dunno how much celebrating there is to do.

I live in Johannesburg where people on scooters get killed by crazy taxi drivers. Riding scooters in Johannesburg is an essential if you are brave enough to weave amongst the absolute insanity one can sometimes experience in traffic.

I’m not saying don’t celebrate Earth Day.  I just think when I saw a the poster with a scooter and Caltex garage with Earth Day I thought it was some spoof ad or something… until I realised it was real.

BBC.com. A well designed site

April 13th, 2009

bbc

For some reason I found myself on BBC’s main website and really enjoyed what I saw from a design perspective.  Clicking off to various aresa leads you to other BBC sites, however this home page acts as the perfect customisable portal page that is clean, consise and beautifully designed. Each panel has some customisable element to it with the ability to add or remove panels from the homepage making it ‘your’ homepage.

Some areas such as the BBC news weather page seem to echoe the homepage design.

Defragmentation from stagnation

defragmentation

Neuromance.co.za was home exclusivily to my digital portfolio work, with deculture at blogspot being my “blogging platform“. As my post title suggests the merger of deculture + neuromance is really just a unification of some sort of online purpose and identity as anyone who has lived online long enough understands.

I am slowly adding back logs of projects that I have done over the past years to neuromance. Most of the blogs will start in this year Jan, so don’t get confused if you see a mountain of projects all occuring on one particular month. You can attribute this to the fact that I discovered blogging a little too late :P

Well now to find an interesting image to acompany this blog at 1:40am… lets see…
