Glow in the dark animals – Seriously, glow-in-the-dark pigs, cats and now dogs.

April 28th, 2009

It occurred to me tonight.

We live in an age where if you type in “glow in the dark animal” in google images, you actually find a myriad of legitimate images pertaining to the search. I never imagined a glow in the dark animal just for the sake of imagining one let alone one actually being made.

These thoughts and research arose while I was surfing through the news online, dodging all the stories about the Swin Flu, when I stumbled on this:

South Korean scientists have engineered four Beagle dogs that glow red using cloning techniques that could help develop cures for human diseases.

I am not sure how many of you may remember the glow in the dark pig?

Can you imagine my surprise when I spot this new addition?

And then imagine my surprise when I start googling glow in the dark animals.

Our world is changing…  and my next pet may just glow in the dark.. and out of curiosity sake.

Why don’t plastic light switches glow in the dark?

bio bak – aweswome website

biobak_header

This has to be the most entertaining site I have been on in a while. It is incredibly bandwidth hungry before and after it loads, but it is well worth the wait.

From the word go this site is silly and fun.

Shades of Sky Update v1.1

April 26th, 2009

Shades of Sky

I have been tweaking things under the hood with the Shades of Sky GUI. There is still a lot of work to be done with some finer details needing to be implemented.

Over the next few weeks I plan on dumping a whole bunch of data so the content becomes richer.

Voting Day in South Africa 2009

April 22nd, 2009

Voting Day in South Africa 2009

Ah… voting day in South Africa. It only happens every five years and today is the day.

For people who know little about South African politics let me inform you why I believe this vote counts more than previous votes.

The current ruling party has broken down and split forming a new oposition party. Not only does this dilute the ruling parties vote, but I believe revives the democractic process in our country. The attitude among all South Africans this voting day has been vastly different from before. Apathy seems to have been replaced by determination.

Thanks to everyone who is choosing to vote today :)

Here some pics and some more blogging later. I didnt vote when I saw the queues, but will do so later.

popurls

popurls

If you’re looking for: quick access to tons of feeds, well designed and layed-out information, all on one webpage, then look no further.

I would almost consider popurls as a frontpage to a newspaper.  Significantly simple yet elegant solution to the problem of ten million voices all screaming for attention on the internet at the same time all the time including me :S .

I love it when people are bold enough to go back to the simple things about design and layout. One page, thousands of links, looking oh so slick because font, colour, layout and content have been carefully crafted.

Anywayz :) check it out!

Side note

I was being lazy and getting the shortcode for (r) character map (which I never got in the end :/) when I found this little snippet in the source code of the popurls site. Thought it was cute.
